Berlin is the capital and largest city of Germany, located in the northeastern part of the country. It is situated in the state of Berlin and lies in the European Plain, on the banks of the River Spree. Berlin's coordinates are 52.5200° N, 13.4050° E. It is located about 70 kilometers west of the Polish border, and around 180 kilometers south of the Baltic Sea.
Berlin is nine times larger than Paris, but has a similar population to Munich. Despite its large size, it is relatively flat and has few hills, making it easy to navigate by bike or on foot.
Berlin has more museums than rainy days. With over 180 museums, the city has something for everyone, from art and history to science and technology. The most famous museum in Berlin is the Museum Island, a complex of five museums located on an island in the River Spree.
Berlin has a rich history, having been the capital of Nazi Germany, divided by the Berlin Wall during the Cold War, and reunited after the fall of the Wall in 1989. Today, visitors can still see remnants of the Wall throughout the city, including the famous East Side Gallery, a 1.3-kilometer stretch of the Wall covered in murals and graffiti.
Berlin is known for its vibrant nightlife, with many bars and clubs staying open until the early hours of the morning. The city has a reputation for techno music, with famous clubs like Berghain and Tresor attracting visitors from around the world. However, there are also many other types of nightlife options, including jazz clubs, cocktail bars, and beer gardens.
