Interior wall map of Geneva
In Geneva, for a couple of centuries, there has been a tradition, by special decree, to announce the arrival of spring, when the first leaf blooms on the "official" chestnut, growing in the waters through the windows of the cantonal government. According to statistics, most often the arrival of spring is announced in March, although there are also paradoxes. For example, in 2002 the chestnut blossomed on December 29th. And in 2006 the first leaf appeared in March, and then the chestnut blossomed again in October.
